T.Cow: It’s the 6/9 edition of the RRC. Get it? 6/9. I need a life. Let’s journey into the WWE Universe shall we?
Krizbii: Wow, moving money from one box to another was so impressive last week that they decided to do it again this week, that'll get the viewers to tune in every week. At least the money intro was kept shot.
Kennedy vs Burchill
It was a nice and simple opening match, Kennedy seemed decent enough, Burchill wasn't as bad as normal either and both of them got reactions from the crowd. Katie looked like she was gagging for it from Kennedy when she slapped him, she clearly likes it rough.
Ph-owned
Rick Astley music on Raw is the greatest thing ever, especially combined with Vince not knowing what the hell was going on, maybe the idiot who won 200k can afford a better new ringtone now.
MIckie vs Beth
I guess a lot of short matches are the theme of the show to give casual viewers a bit of a showcase of what's on offer. Beth and Mickie did their usual stuff, Melina continues to be awesomely psycho and the interaction between Mickie and Melina is kept to a minimum. Maybe Melina gets sent to Smackdown on the draft show, as 2 women's triple threats at Night of Champions will be a bit much, especially as these 3 would blow away anything that Smackdown's diva title match could offer.
People Win Money, but Don’t Give a Crap
If Vince McMahon phoned you, would your reaction be a totally disinterested 'alright'? The total lack of excitement from the first two winners made the money giveaway seem like a total non-event, like some guy just rings up and gives them thousands of dollars every day.
Boring
Cena and Triple H just don't seem like the two biggest stars, even Charlie Haas got a bigger reaction, sadly from his intro this segment died a horrible death, even Ron's damn was kind of off. Fortunately JBL showed up just before the break. Could he save the segment? Er, No.
Cena vs JBL
None of the matches in this feud so far have been that great and this wasn't either, I think Triple H forgot he was supposed to be commentating as he hardly said anything. The end of the match was a bit weak and the stuff on the announce table was really lame, we seem to have gone from the age of Orton to pre-school age antics.
38-24-36
What the hell was the point of the shit with Lillian’s measurements? that was just dumb. At least the person who won sounded vaguely interested on this one.
Highlight Reel
Good as this was, it could have been much better, the whole thing was sort of under whelming, even Jericho talking sounded like he was turning heel just because he was bored of the whole storyline. Throwing Shawn into the obscenely cheap outrageously fake Jeritron 6000 in no definition looked cool at least.
Snitsky/Umaga vs Rhodes/Holly
Umaga and Snitsky actually look like a good team, and the tag champs lost yet another match, it seems so obvious that diBiase is winning the titles that WWE will probably pull a swerve and keep the belts on Cody and Hardcore forever.
Boring - part 2
The Murdoch and Jillian stuff was terrible filler to link into money mania, the 2 dollar thing might have been funny if we heard the winner's reaction, the second guy they called at least had a genuine reaction to winning 200 grand.
Cartino vs Cryme Tyme
The recap of the Santino/Sal stuff makes me glad I missed Smackdown. This was an inoffensive enough match, but it wasn't exactly interesting.
Money giveaways really don't offer anything to comment on, there are just too many.
Hardy vs HHH
Jeff and Hunter should be a big deal, instead it was a boring plodding match dominated by Triple H. Did Cena learn to commentate by playing Smackdown vs Raw? he was as generic as the computerised version of Michael Cole and his dull commentary seemed to bring down the quality of JR and the King too. Jeff getting tossed into Cena looked quite good but that was the only slightly good moment in the entire match, Hardy winning by count out did nothing for him as he'd been so dominated in the match. At least him jumping over the ropes to break up the dull stare-down might mean he gets added to the Night of Champions main event.
One last bit of Money
Having the last giveaway after the real end of the show just seemed weird and gave Raw a really flat ending because it was just nothing togged on the end of a shitty show.
Final Thoughts
The whole show was disjointed and lacked any real flow, my attention drifted off in a couple of matches and the Cena/Triple H angle is just unbelievable boring, their matches were arguably the worst of the night. Most of the show was just filler around Million Dollar Mania, there were a few reminders of various angles, but not much progression, except in the form of Jericho’s far too late heel turn. The only other highlights were Vince getting Rick-rolled and Jeff’s dive into the stare-down of perpetual boredom.
Money Mania was a nice idea, but didn’t really work, partly down to Vince’s inability to type phone numbers and partly down to the people who were winning, it was an interesting concept, but just didn’t translate well to TV at all, and if they carry on with it for too long, they’ll lose regular viewers instead of gaining new ones.
If WWE want ratings they should just put the belt on Hardy and let him run with it as he’s way more entertaining than the supposedly top 2 babyfaces, my only concern with that idea is that we might end up with months of matches like that shitty main event, where Jeff was the winner, but was basically dominated by Triple H throughout, the last thing a Jeff Hardy title reign needs to look like is a Rey Mysterio title reign.
Score: 2
T.Cow: I’m going to keep track tonight of how much time they spent on the money stuff. Is it really that necessary to have to see money being transferred from one plastic container to another? It’s going to be a long night. Time – 1:10
Kennedy vs Burchill
Wow, way to kill any momentum that Burchill may have had. Have him lose to Kennedy in less than 4 minutes. I’m not a big fan of Burchill or anything, but if you’re trying to establish a feud, a sub-4 minute clean match isn’t a good start. Burchill looked like a total bitch here.
On the plus side though, Katie Lea looks much hotter than I normally remember her. Wait, his finisher is called the twisted sister? So they are still going to keep hinting at an incest angle? Great.
Ok, I laughed at Vince getting Rick Rolled. There’s no way anything else can beat this. Time – 2:40
Mickie vs Beth
Huh? Since when is the Thez press a finisher? It’s a fucking Thez press! Even worse was that Beth Phoenix had to stare at the ceiling for it.
That beatdown by Melina was pretty badass though. One of the better things she has ever done since MNM.
Time – 1:20
That backstage segment between Cena and Triple H was almost unbearable.
Ha, so now that Heat is cancelled, Charlie Haas is relegated to this? Man, this show is fast approaching the 0 territory. Time – 5:10
Cena vs JBL
First off, the King of Kings music! That ruled. Since when did JBL’s finisher name get changed to the lariat from hell? What was wrong with the clothesline from hell? Anyway, match was alright, I don’t hate these Cena/JBL matches as much as other people. Of course it’s nothing compared to their I Quit match, but it seems like WWE wants to put a brawling restriction to this feud as seen by their Judgment Day and One Night Stand matches. I don’t mind the roll up ending, but the fact that JBL didn’t do anything about it afterwards just makes him look like a bitch.
Ha, that was one of the worst trips ever. I think I saw some 5th graders did that the other day, and they did better.
38-24-36, too bad Jillian couldn’t be fatter. Does Vince not have a fucking speed dial button? Terrible. Time – 2:06
Highlight Reel
This might be the saving grace of this show. What an awesome segment. All the build up from previous week for this great moment! And with NOC coming up, looks like we may get HBK in an intercontinental title match.
Umaga & Snitsky vs Rhodes & Holly
King and JR taking a shot at Hogan’s divorce was awesome. The result of this match was also awesome. If Umaga doesn’t go to SD (and god knows why he doesn’t), this would be an interesting tag team.
I’m liking Randy Orton Jr. a little more each week. This all reeks of a Cody Rhodes heel turn.
This was almost as good as the Rick Roll. Vince telling that girl that she won $2 was funny. The holy shit from the second caller was great. Time – 5:31
Cryme Tyme vs The International Superstars
Kind of pointless. Looks like Santino and Carlito won’t ever get the tag titles anymore.
Vince doing the Money Money Yeah Yeah is pretty good. Too bad the million thing has ran its course by now. Time – 2:29
Jeff Hardy vs Triple H
God, I like both guys, but this was just terrible. The match was absurdly slow. Nothing happened. Triple H just beat up Hardy for 9 minutes, and that’s it. To make matters worse, Cena was horrendous on the mic. Everything he said was fucking generic. The splash probably means that the NOC match is now triple threat. I guess they needed someone to take the fall. Blah.
This was about the worst ending for a Raw episode ever. What a fucking pathetic way to end the show. It’s like WWE is trying out for Gameshow Network. Time – 2:46
Final thoughts: In case you’re keeping track, WWE spent a total of 23 minutes 12 seconds on the stupid Million Dollar giveaway. Raw is a 2+ hours show. If you take out the commercials, this week’s episode was 93 minutes 56 seconds. So about 25% of the televised programming was dedicated to Vince giving away money. Wrestling? What wrestling? I absolutely loved the Jericho/Michaels stuff, but even that doesn’t save this shit from getting the goose egg.
High point: Highlight Reel
Low point: All the money segments
